What is the employee dress code?

It is important for all employees to project a professional image while at work by being appropriately attired. Bethel University employees are expect to be neat, clean, and well groomed while on the job. How do I report my time for payroll?

New employees will be classified as either exempt or non-exempt.  All Exempt employees, except CPS Exempt employees, record exceptions in the Virtual Time Clock system.  Non-exempt employees, in addition to CPS Exempt employees, will clock in and out using the Virtual Time Clock system and will manually add leave time for vacation, sick or personal time taken there. How are employee evaluations/annual reviews handled?

Performance appraisals are conducted on an annual cycle. Exempt employees will receive an evaluation in June and Non-exempt employees will receive a performance review in December of each year. The performance appraisal will be discussed, and both the employee and manager will sign the form to ensure that all strengths, areas for improvement and job goals for the next review period have been clearly communicated. Performance evaluation forms will be retained in the employee's personnel file. For additional information, visit the Employee Handbook.

How do I request time off?

How do I ensure my check is deposited electronically with each pay period?

To setup or change direct deposit for payroll, a copy of a check and/or a letter from the bank can be submitted along with the direct deposit form to HR for processing.

When do I get paid?

The pay cycles are the 1st through the 15th and the 16th through the end of the month. Pay dates are the 15th and 30th of each month.  If the 15th or 30th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday; you will receive your direct deposit the previous business day.  For example, if the 15th falls on Sunday, direct deposits will post on Friday.

After my initial benefits enrollment, is there any other time I should change my benefits? (i.e. marriage, birth, etc.)

Other than open enrollment, changes can be made if there is a qualifying event (i.e. marriage, birth), provided that the employee is currently covered at the time of the event.

How do I access my payroll stubs?

Payroll stubs are delivered to employee Bethel email inbox the week of the 15th and 30th .  It is recommended that upon receipt of the payroll employees do the following:

  • Download immediately to personal storage or print
  • Delete the payroll stub after ensuring a copy has been obtained for personal records

Where can I locate my accrued time-off balance?

To access your accrued time-off balance, contact your immediate supervisor or the Benefits Specialist in Human Resources. Unfortunately, the ability to access this information via the Virtual Timeclock is not available because Bethel pays current and timesheets are not updated until after the payroll has processed.

How long do I have to wait for my health insurance coverage to start?

Date of hire determines benefit effective date. If hired on the 1st day of the month, benefits are effective the first. If hired after the 1st, benefits are effective the first day of the following month.

When will employees be given raises?

Each year the Board of Trustees meets in July. During that time, Board members vote to approve the budget for the next fiscal year that begins August 1. The budget approval will include or not include pay raises.
